We have all heard the saying that life is about the journey not just the destination. In other words, it’s about how we meet the joys and challenges of life and transform into the people we desire to be. But sometimes we may become distracted or get off course due to challenges that life brings. We may believe lies about ourselves, get trapped in negative thinking or become anxious or depressed. These unhealthy ways of thinking and feeling can hold us back from finding our true identity and purpose and living life to the fullest. We may try to cope with our problems and emotions through addictions or other unhealthy coping strategies which may exacerbate our problems and develop into a vicious cycle that may be hard to get out of on our own.
As a Christian Counselor with six years of Substance Abuse experience, I have a passion to walk with client’s through these types of challenges and others; helping them to find peace in their pain, resolutions for their problems and direction for their future. Utilizing evidence based theories including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness and Biblical Principles, my desire is to give back to clients what God has taught me in my life’s journey and help them develop strategies to live the life they truly desire.
I have worn many hats over the years as a daughter, wife, mother, sister, friend, coworker, educator and counselor. I am a native Floridian and graduated from The University of Florida with a BA in Education and Reformed Theological Seminary with a Masters in Christian Counseling. I am blessed to be happily married with 4 wonderful children and 4 furry friends. I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, hiking, cooking, gardening and various physical fitness activities. I believe in living life holistically by caring for the needs of our whole self; mind, body and spirit.
2 Corinthians 5:17 declares “If anyone is in Christ, the old has gone, the new has come.” My hope is to help clients overcome the obstacles they are facing in life, let go of their old patterns of thinking and living that are not working for them and walk in a new and healthier version of themselves.
